Theft At Sierratel Office: Technician Behind Bars

Forty-seven years old Daniel Moseray a Technician and forty-six years old Ibrahim Bai Bureh Mansaray, a driver made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 in Freetown on two count charges ranging from Larceny by Servant contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on 7th November 2023, at the Sierra Leone Telecommunication network company Sierratel location at Mile-91 the northern province of Freetown being a staff or Servant employed by Sierratel network company stole two 18000 BTU Air condition, one base transceiver station, one radio rack containing six Aviator unit, one Cisco 2960 network switch, six feeder network cables, six intermediate frequency cables, one global positioning system ball, one global positioning system cable, earthing cables, twelve batteries and 12V/200AH backup batteries property value of the Sierra Leone telecommunication network Company Sierratel.

On count two the second accused person Bai Bureh Mansaray sometime in September 2023, at the Sierra Leone Telecommunication Network Company (Sierratel) location Mile-91, in the Northern Province in Freetown being a staff or servant employed by Sierra Leone Telecommunication Network Company (Sierratel), stole two(2) 18000 BTU Air Conditioners, one (1)

Base transceiver Station, one (1) Rectifier Cabinet, one (1) Radio Unit, one (1)

Huawei Microwave, one (1) radio rack Containing six(6) Aviator Unit, one Cisco

2960 Network Switch, six(6) feeder Network Cables, six(6) intermediate frequency Cables, one Global Positioning system ball, one Global positioning system cable, earthling cables, twelve (12) batteries and 12V/200AH backup batteries property of value, properties of the Sierra Leone Telecommunication Network Company Sierratel

Deputy Superintendent of police Sorie Conteh lead Prosecution witness number two Saidu Zachariah Kargbo a Security guard at Sierratel Compound Mile 91 said he recognized the complainant and the accused persons in the dock as his boss at Sierratel Compound Mile 91.

He recalled on diverse date between September to 7th November 2023 he was at the said office when the first accused person came at the office told him that he was sent to collect equipment like radio set, PTS, coper cable,  and other items.

He further stated that the first accused person informed him that he has taken the items to Bo the witness said the management came to collect the items it was nowhere to be found.

The witness said he informed the management that the first accused person came and collected the equipment.

The witness said he was asked by the management to identify the person he saw at the site the witness said he identified the first accused person.

He was arrested; the first accused person took them at his house some items were discovered at the premises of the first accused person.

He further stated that he together with the first accused person and the police officers returned to Mile 91 police station were statement was obtained from him.

Cross examination by defense counsel Ibrahim Macfoy Esq

How many years have you been a security guard, the witness said ten years now, no documents was shown to the police containing records of people who entered the premises on that particular day the witness said no documents were shown.

You didn’t show police any document containing details were you sign in and out of the said office, the witness said he didn’t show documents.

Sometimes you didn’t go to work, the witness said yes, people are entering the said office at Mile 91 the witness said yes, you told the court that you know the first accused person as your boss, the witness said yes, he concluded.

The defence counsel Ibrahim Macfoy adopted his previous Bail applications on behalf of the first accused person.

Meanwhile Magistrate Bangura refused bail for the first accused person whilst the bail for the second accused person continues.

The matter was adjourned to the 6th February 2024.
