Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.2 on the 19th July 2022 granted the accused Morrison Kabba bail in the sum of 100, 000NLe for an alleged theft offence committed at Lion House in the Mountain Rural district of Freetown. 

The bail condition required the accused to produce one surety that should produce a title deed valued at NLe200, 000 in Western Area, adding that the surety should produce a utility bill receipt bail to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar (DAR).

The accused Morrison Kabba appeared before the court for one count indictment of Larceny in a dwelling house contrary to section 13(a) of the larceny act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday 12th July 2022  at Lion house, Regent village in the Mountain Rural District in Freetown, the accused with intent, entered into the dwelling house of Winifred Lightfoot Taylor and stole therein one “Ghana mus go” bag valued Le50 (fifty Leones) which contained the sum of Le50,000 (fifty thousand Leones) and two thousand eight hundred United State Dollars (USD2,800) equivalent to Le39,760, (thirty nine thousand seven hundred and sixty Leones), all to the total value of Le89, 810 (eighty nine thousand, eight hundred and ten Leones), property of the said Winifred.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and no plea was taken. 

At this stage, the prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Hawa Bah informed the Bench that her witness was absent and would proceed with the matter on the next adjourning date. 

Defense Counsel M. Beretay Esq applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person pursuant to section 79 2 of the criminal procedure Act No 32 of 1965.

He assured the Bench that his client if granted bail would not jump bail and will make himself available to the court at all times.

However, Magistrate granted his bail application and adjourned the matter to Wednesday 27th July 2022 for further hearing.
