Forty-Seven years old Emmanuel Sorie Kamara a Driver, Thirty-Seven years old Melvin Philip unemployed, Twenty-four years old Alie Koroma a security guard, thirty-four years old, Mark Sahr Njah a Technician and Twenty-seven years old Abdul Bangura a business man made their first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 in Freetown on four count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law, Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916 and two count ranging from unlawful possession contrary to section 13 (1) Cap 37 as amended by section 5 of Act No.6 of 1981.
According to the particulars of offence on Monday 22nd July 2024 at Electricity distribution and supply Authority EDSA sub statio n Goderich the western area in Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit Larceny.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place the accused persons stole one drum cable valued twelve thousand Leones (12000) property of the Electricity distribution and supply Authority EDSA.
Count three the fifth accused person on the same date and place were found in possession of one role black cable suspected to have been unlawfully obtained property of Electricity distribution and supply Authority EDS.
Count three further stated that on the same date and place the fifth accused person were found in possession of give small roles of cable ninety two pieces of connectors, fifteen screw installators and four brown circles suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons, they pleaded not guilty.
Counsel representing the accused persons Chernor Kamara Esq renewed his previous bail application on behalf of the accused persons.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura granted the accused persons bail in the sum of twenty thousand Leones with two sureties in like sum sureties must be resident in Freetown and must be responsible citizens, bail to be approved by the Deputy assistant Registrar Matter adjourned to the 4th September 2024.
