Tamareneh Rhondda in Wales Donates To Hospitals

In a bid to improve services in the health sector in the country, Tamareneh Rhondda, a humanitarian organization in Wales has donated Drugs and Medical equipment worth Le 100,000.000 (One Hundred Million Leones) to medical authorities at Connaught, Lakka and the Emergency hospital.

Making a brief statement before handing over the consignments at Connaught hospital, the chairperson of Tamareneh Rhondda, Dr. Idriss Sesay disclosed that he and his partners have been doing such donations to maternal and other hospitals who are in dire need of drugs and medical equipments for over fifteen years.

Dr. Sesay further stated that before shipping the consignments to Sierra Leone, they usually consult authorities at the various hospitals to know what they need and in the process they always make sure what is coming in will be beneficial to the people.

 Dr. Sesay said among the consignments were medical gloves and masks to protect the people from COVID 19 pandemic.

He urged the medical authorities that are receiving the consignments to use the drugs as fast as required in order for them not to hit the expiry dates.

Receiving the consignments for Connaught hospital from Mr. Abdul Aziz Sesay, brother of Dr Idriss Sesay, the hospital care manager, Dr. Kizito Dawo appreciated Tamareneh Rhondda for the gesture.

He said when given the list of items, he immediately consulted the Chief Pharmacist of the hospital who confirmed the items to be very useful for medication and hospital care.

“You will not know the value of some of these items until you need them” he stated.

Dr. Dawo encouraged Tamareneh Rhondda to continue what they have started at Connaught hospital in order to save more lives.

Similar ceremony was observed at Lakka hospital, where list of items were handed over to the authorities present.

The Senior Matron, Susan A. Charles welcomed the delegation and assured them that the items will be used for the nursing procedure of the patients.

She stated that the crutches will be given to patients that have issues with walking and are immobile.

Madam Charles prayed for unity to continue between the hospital and Tamareneh Rhondda, as much will delivered in due course.

At the Emergency hospital, items needed were received by Medical staffs.

A literature of the received items was prepared and signed by the medical coordinator, surgical centre, Samuele Greco.

Some of the items donated includes assorted drugs, yellow bins, oxygen link tubings, flat drain, blood glucose test strips, guedel airways, nasal cannulas, verturi barrels, corflo fine bore feeding tubes, internal feeding sets, flexitainers, culture swab transport systems, blood collection tubes, mepiseal with safetac technology, urine collection bags, link yankauer suckers, multisite dressing, portable suction machine,hydro _fiber dressing with strengthening films among others.
