Staffs of Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary (TCS) are still searching for their Land Cruiser jeep that was stolen two weeks ago.

The said jeep is essential for chimpanzee rescues and without a suitable replacement, their ability to save the lives of endangered chimpanzees and carry out critical field operations is severely compromised.

As they continue with the search, Tacugama has launched an appeal to reach out to all their supporters to help with funding in replacement of the vehicle, which is vital to the day-to-day operations of the organization.

Bala Amarasekaran, the founder and Director of the Tacugama Sanctuary, speaking from the United States, said:

“The theft of this vehicle is a huge blow to the operations of the sanctuary. Without it, we will not be able to carry out rescue missions. It’s crucial that we can get a replacement as soon as possible.”

He appealed to supporters for help get a replacement vehicle as soon as possible.

Tacugama is an integral part of the law enforcement and awareness-raising efforts for the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) in collaboration with the National Protected Area Authority and the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change.
