A total of 13 musical dance bands including Super Combo, Afro National and Ripsta Culture Band have commenced rehearsals in preparation for the Reggae Faces Festival slated for 13th and 14th November, 2021, at Kallon Car Park, Aberdeen Beach, on the theme: “Make Sierra Leone Green”.
Head of Ripsta Culture Band, Sorie Obai Kamara aka Obi-phrase, who doubles as a Music Ambassador to Europe has said the first ever reggae festival, will be a history making event that will help promote tourism in the country. He said the proceeds of the two days show will be used to plant trees in disaster prone locations across the country. ” It is all about taking Sierra Leone to higher height as far as climate change is concerned”, Obi-phrase confirmed to A-Z newspaper.
He added that members of the Consulate Planning Team in Finland will grace the festival to show how important the programme is to both Finland and mama Salone.
As part of the bands, a backing band from Germany and Sister Odella’s band from Bo will also perform together with Dreams Traditional Band, Jahman and Sierra Wailers, Afro National, Africans Stars, Rasta Sax and Crew AF 1 Awolowo and the BLB Band, Dynamics Band as well as City Rollers International Band.
Seventy artists in all from European countries such as Finland, Germany, France, and Guinea will blend up with live band artists in the country to perform.
It could be recalled that the Sierra Leone Tourists Board had offered the venue on gratis basis as its contribution to making Sierra Leone greener.
