Irate students of Institute of Public Administration and Management, (IPAM) protesting the omission of the names in a pending graduation list barricaded the college premises and engaged in acts of vandalism to have alerted riot Police that zoomed in to contain a somewhat messy situation.
The students said out of eight hundred students that are to graduate in various disciplines the college authority only published the names of one hundred students.
Eyewitness say the riot was led by a female student of the university. There videos showing being dragged by the Police. It is unclear how many students were arrested.
A student from Banking and Finance who prefers anonymity angrily told A-Z Newspaper that “the administration has published ten percent of the names of grandaunt, and the graduation is slated for Wednesday 14th April, 2021, and as students we are not happy with the administration”.
He added: “a group of students were on the verge of having a meeting to resolve the matter; suddenly they just saw police officers driving in the campus to arrest them.”
Another student said it is the usual pattern of IPAM during time of graduations. Our reporter who was at the scene tried to no avail to reach the university administration for comments.
The protesting students have vowed to continue their actions intended to disrupt the planned graduation until concerns are looked into.
