Edwina Hawa Jamiru, a 21-year-old student from the Faculty of Law at Fourah Bay College (FBC), appeared before Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3 in Freetown, facing three charges related to domestic violence under Section 2(1) of the Domestic Violence Act 2007.

The charges stem from an alleged incident on 27th August 2025, at Kowa Drive, Mothormeh Regent, where it is claimed that Jamiru physically abused Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens, with whom she was in a domestic relationship.

Count one accuses Jamiru of physically abusing Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens on the stated date. Count two further alleges that Jamiru abused Justice Stevens, continuing the pattern of violence. Count three states that on the same date and place, Jamiru allegedly engaged in intimate abuse towards Justice Stevens within their domestic relationship.

At the court hearing, the defendant, Edwina Hawa Jamiru, was absent. Prosecutor Inspector Mohamed Kamara then applied for a bench warrant to be issued for her arrest due to her failure to appear in court.

Magistrate Kallon granted the prosecutor’s application and issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the absent defendant. The matter has been adjourned to 25th September 2025 for further proceedings.
