Ahead of the Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon race day scheduled for this Sunday, April 30th, 2023 in Makati City, the Race Director Alusine Kanu has intimated NewsFeed Sierra Leone that the whooping sum of Twenty Thousand Leones (NLe 20,000) has been set aside as cash awards among the ways in making the 10th edition a unique one.
While the sign-up continues to intensify across the country, at all Street Child Offices, Kanu disclosed that the event attracted over one hundred international runners who are expected to soon be in Sierra Leone and today marks the commencement of the 10th edition of the Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon week that will feature enticing activities especially when it is within the country’s independence week.
Giving detail about the cash awards Alusine Kanu accentuated that the prices are attractive for the best three runners of all four events, both winners for the male and female categories of the full marathon set to receive the sum of NLe 2,000 each, runners-up will be awarded the sum of NLe 1,500 each and NLe 1,000 each for the third position.
He added that the prices for the half marathon feature the sum of NLe 1,000 each for the winners of the male and female categories, the sum of NLe 800 each for the runners-up, and NLe 700 each for the third position respectively.
However, winners of the 10K marathon will receive the sum of NLe 700 each, while NLe 600 each set to be handed to the runners-up, and the third-place runners of the two categories will bag home NLe 500 each.
Kanu also noted that for the 5K marathon, the winners of the two categories will be awarded NLe 500 each, the sum of NLe 400 for the runners-up while NLe 300 for the third position and therefore concluded by reaffirming that the sign-up is still on NLe 40 for the 5K marathon, the sum of NLe 80 for the 10K marathon, NLe 120 for the half marathon and the sum of 200 for the full marathon.
