Forty-nine-year-old Mohamed Buya Fofanah, a military officer, and forty-six-year-old Idrissa Conteh, a military officer, made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on two-count charges of Store breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and Receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offense on 16th July 2024 at the Sierra Leone Roads Authority SLRA compound Kirma Port Loko Road Lungi Kafu Bullom Chiefdom Port Loko District the Northwest region in Freetown break and entered into the store at the Sierra Leone Roads Authority compound and stole therein six solar batteries, thirty-four solar panels all to the total value of seventy-nine thousand Leones(79,000) property of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority.
Count two further stated that the second accused person received two solar panels from Mohamed Boya Fofanah on the same date and place, all worth two thousand Leones(2,000), knowing they had been stolen.
No plea was taken when the charges were read and explained to the accused person.
The prosecutor, Detective Police Constable Thoronka K.K., applied for a bench warrant for the second accused person, who was absent in court. He also sought a short adjournment date because his witness was absent.
Magistrate Bangura granted the application, sent the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown, and adjourned the matter to October 10, 2024.
