Star Sports Academy Defeats Wusum Stars FC In Detection Tournament

Star Sports Football Academy has defeated premier league team Wusum Stars to maintain their winning campaign in the Detect tournament.

It was a rainy day in Makeni City Northern part of Sierra Leone when star sports Academy displayed a talent exhibition. It was entertaining and fearless on the side of Star Sports Academy; the first half was tense between both sides to find a goal. In the the second half coach Tamba Ngongou of Star Sports Academy made a substitution which many football fans that witnessed the match described as timely.

The match continued with fierce desperation on both sides seeking for winning.

From the bench star sport striker Abdul R. Kabia in the 40 minutes of play bang in a classic goal against Wusum Stars which gave them edge over their opponent  from Makeni and that goal was protected to the end of the match.

In another Development, Star Sport Academy pledges to streamline youths football in Sierra Leones and is one of the football academies in Sierra Leone that was established in 2020 in order to help youths football across Sierra Leone.

The Academy on the 5th and 6th August, 2023 at the Wusum Field in Makeni, North East Region staged a trial competition for players across various teams including Wusum Stars FC, Kholifa Stars, Mems Plus, SSV FC among others from both Sierra Leone and Guinea, an event that attracted key sporting stakeholders including Leone Stars Head Coach John Keister, NERFA and BDFA executive members respectively which many described as a historic milestone in the trajectory of improving the country’s youths football.

Peter Smith an International Scout, an Agent and Member of the Scouting Panel of Star Sport Academy from Belgium underscored the importance of the trial especially in shaping youths football in the country “I was impressed with the many talents displayed by various players within the two (2) days which means that there are so many unearthed talents across the country and those we scouted will be showcase in the international arena,” he hinted.

Mohammed Marrah one of Sierra Leone’s youngest goal keepers and the debutant of Wusum Stars with four (4) clean sheet out of six (6) matches in the second league of the country’s top tier league cut the attention of the scouts and was selected in the first eleven of Star Sport Academy team A due to his clinical saves, “It was a great moment to stand tall among all equals due to performance wise and I will always remain grateful to the management of the academy for their unbiased job demonstrated,” he acknowledged.
