Star Sport Academy Signs Sierra Leone Football Icon Mohamed Buya Turay

Star Sport Academy has reached a historic milestone with the official signing of Sierra Leonean international footballer Mohamed Buya Turay, widely regarded as one of the most accomplished players from the country.

The signing is a major step forward for the academy, which aims to nurture young talent while integrating experienced professionals into its football development system. Turay brings with him a wealth of experience, professionalism, and inspiration for the next generation of Sierra Leonean footballers.

Born in Freetown, Buya Turay began his football journey playing street football before launching a professional career that spanned Europe, Asia, and beyond. He has played for prominent clubs including Djurgårdens IF, Sint‑Truiden, Hebei FC, Henan Songshan Longmen, Malmö FF, Odense Boldklub, and Birmingham Legion FC, gaining extensive international experience and competing in European competitions.

On the international stage, Turay has represented the Sierra Leone national football team, earning recognition for his speed, attacking ability, and goal-scoring prowess. Notably, he won the 2019 Swedish Allsvenskan Golden Boot, establishing himself as one of the most prolific African strikers in Europe at the time.

Speaking on the signing, Star Sport Academy Chairman Yankuba Jusu Tarawally, popularly known as Lux Cee Note, described the move as a significant milestone for football development in Sierra Leone.
