Mohamed Asmieu Bah is a prominent media professional in Sierra Leone who has long contributed extensively to journalism (broadcasting) and public service.
As a 2021/2022 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at Arizona State University, he honed his skills and knowledge in media, communication, and leadership, equipping him to make an even stronger impact in Sierra Leone’s media landscape. He is also an alumnus of Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone’s oldest university, which adds to his foundational understanding and expertise in the region’s media and cultural dynamics.
Currently serving as the Deputy Director General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Bah plays a crucial role in overseeing and shaping the direction of the national broadcaster, ensuring that it meets high standards of journalism and public service.
Alongside his executive role, he is widely recognized as the anchor of Podium, a popular TV programme that attracts a large viewership, engaging the public on key issues through insightful discussions and interviews.
Previously, Bah held the influential position of Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), where he was instrumental in advocating for press freedom, professional ethics, and the rights of journalists in Sierra Leone. His role at SLAJ allowed him to work closely with media practitioners and stakeholders, strengthening the country’s journalistic standards and supporting the development of a more robust media sector.
Bah’s professional journey reflects a deep commitment to advancing journalism, fostering transparent communication, and promoting informed public dialogue in Sierra Leone. His influence spans media, leadership, and public engagement, positioning him as a key figure in the nation’s media landscape.
