A pupil of the United Methodist Church (UMC) Senior Secondary School at Njagboima Section in Bo, Elizabeth F. Kamara has said that she is proud of the school she is attending. She said the administration is committed to achieving the Free and quality Education.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper, she added that ‘’ the principal of the school is committed to seeing that those who deserve to be promoted to a new class are promoted as evident I was promoted to another SS2. We were sixty five in SS1 but we are now twenty in SS2 commerce, which is a testament to the fact that the principal wants to see free and quality education achieved,’’ she said.
She confessed: “we have a disciplined principal who wants to see the best for the school as he monitors the school to ensure that the teachers are in the class to teach.”
Elizabeth however said that the ongoing West Africa Senior Secondary School Examination has interrupted the effective teaching in the school but expressed the hope that effective teaching will resume after the WASSCE exam.
She acknowledged the good work of the government saying: “I want to thank President Bio for the introduction of the Free and quality education as it has helped our parents who are low income earners and I want to advise my fellow students to treat the academic work with the seriousness it deserves. This is an opportunity that has come our way and we need to firmly grab it and our teachers need to be encouraged to do more for the us. The conditions of service for the teachers need to be further reviewed to encourage the teachers to do more as the cost of living is becoming high every day, which president Bio might not be responsible for .’’
Elizabeth urged the parents to ensure that their children study at home in order to perform well in both internal and public exams including NPSE, BECE and WASSCE.
Some of the staff of UMC Senior Secondary School told this medium that they are committed to achieving the free and quality education.
