Some fuel dealers are thieves in Kono District this is according to a civil Society activist working for the Network Movement for Justice and Development Joseph Komba Bockarie in a meeting organized by the Minister of Information and Communications Abdulrahman Swarray on Friday first July, 2022.
The meeting was for the Minister of Information and Communications to explain to the people of Kono district the position or stands of the government of Sierra Leone on the present fuel crisis in the Country. Joseph Komba Bockarie maintained that some fuel dealers in Kono district are notorious in creating artificial fuel scarcity in the district in order to maximize profit at the detriment of the common people.
He noted that some fuel dealers are fond of constantly closing their filling stations to the public but rather make fuel available at the black market.
That is at night fuel dealers do sell fuel to black marketers and the black marketers in turn sell fuel at a very exorbitant price to members of the public.
The Civil Society activist vividly recalled when fuel was recently sold forty five thousand Leones per liter at the black market in Koidu City and its immediate environs which according to him is not only cheating but a well-organized syndicate to frustrate the tireless efforts of the government, the country and its citizenry.
He commended the Minister for organizing such timely and important meeting and urged him to institute an effective monitoring mechanism to address such unpatriotic behavior of the fuel dealers in the district.
