As the Sixth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone endorsed and approved the New Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) Madam Musayeroh Barrie, the Smart Movement for SLPP headed by it Chief Executive Officer Aerean Steven Smart Gegra, has on Thursday the 12th of October 2023, lavished praises and commendations on President Julius Maada Bio for appointing Madam Barrie.
He also gave a thumps up to all Members of the Sixth Parliament for approving the New Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority.
Expressing immeasurable elation for the approval of Madam Musayeroh Barrie, Aerean Steven Smart Gegra intimated that Madam Barrier has an enriched qualification to head the country’s Aviation Industry.
He added that Madam Barrie holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brunel University UK, a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the University of Leicester UK and a Diploma from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) UK in Strategic Management and Leadership Practices.
Mr. Gegra also elucidated that Madam Barrie’s coursework encompasses areas such as Developing Organizational Strategy, Strategic Data Management and Marketing Strategies. Upon her return to Sierra Leone, he said Madam Barrie has held various senior management roles in industries including Mining and Aviation.
“Her passion for the Aviation Industry was ignited in 2013, leading her to participate in various aviation-related training programmes notably the Aviation Security Professional Managers Course (AVSEC PM) conducted by the University of Concordia in conjunction with ICAO”, said Gegra.
He continued that Madam Barrie possesses an extensive knowledge of Sierra Leone’s aviation environment as she had served as the Country’s Director for Westminster Aviation Security Services (WASS), an International Aviation Security Provider for over a decade.
During her tenure as the Country Director for WASS, he said Madam Barrie played a pivotal role in the successful execution of airport security operations at Freetown International Airport.
Furthermore, she closely collaborated with the relevant State authorities to prepare for the ICAO Security Audit in 2019 resulting in Sierra Leone achieving a commendable pass mark of 71%.
He concluded by assuring this medium that Madam Musayeroh Barrie has harnessed the required experience to change the Aviation Sector by meeting international standards adding that, President Julius Maada Bio made the wisest decision to appoint Madam Barrie to head the Country’s Civil Aviation Industry.
