The Chairman for the Sierra Leone People’s Party North America (SLPPNA) Branch Desmond Pessima, has on the 9th of October 2021, inaugurated the Washington D.C Metro Chapter Executive.
In his keynote address, the Sierra Leone Ambassador to the U.S, H.E Sidique Abou -Baker Wai started by lavishing praises on SLPPNA chairman Mr Desmond Pessima for all the good work he is doing in the Region. He continued to say that Chairman Desmond Pessima is the best Chairman ever SLPPNA have produced while describing him as smart, patriotic, humble and dedicated young man who has a brighter future in politics.
Ambassador Wai added that leadership comes from God and when that happens, he said people should give respect to such leader. He called on all to support the chairman of SLPPNA as he works diligently to support President Bio’s led Government to develop Sierra Leone. He further encouraged all SLPPNA to come together and work in unity for the General good of the party in the part of the region.
During the symbolic inaugural ceremony, the Chairman of SLPP North America Desmond Pessima started by thanking God for putting him into the position as Chairman. He said it’s only God who gives power and encouraged all and sundry to put their trust in God and not in man.
He continued by congratulating the elected executive for going through a democratic process. He reminded that his executive depends on the Chapter as a major pillar for the existence of the SLPPNA. He welcomed the elected executive into the leadership of the chapter and wished them successful years to come.
Chairman Pessima further reiterated the importance of unity in the party and therefore, asked all SLPPNA to work together. “The elections are over now, and if you consider yourself a true member of the SLPP, you should join the new executive of Washington chapter to promote the interest of the party. With the SLPP, there is no loser”, he said.
During her inaugural speech, the newly elected Chairperson of Washington D C Metro chapter Mrs. Fatmata D Wurie appealed to all to join her in making SLPP the best political party for Sierra Leone.
“I am sincerely grateful to all who voted for me, and also to those who did not vote for me. That is the true beauty of democracy. Together, we will all work to achieve the aspirations of our party”, she acknowledged.
Madam Wurie assured all that she will be their servant, and also be a good listening. Madam Wurie also acknowledged that she would not have reached where she is today without the support of her husband Mr. Wurie who has been with her in thick and thin to accomplish her dream.
She continued that success for SLPPNA Washington D.C. Metro Chapter 2021 Inauguration lies in the hands of her fellow chapter heads and representatives.
The Master of ceremony Aminata Mabondo Amara, who also doubles as the Women’s Leader of SLPPNA, thanked the Washington D C Metro Chapter for choosing her among the rest to be the MC for the August body inauguration and promised to do her best to a successful end of the program. She thanked and welcomed all for coming. She encouraged those who are not members of SLPPNA to come on board as the development vehicle is moving of which they do not want to leave anyone behind .
