As the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Zonal elections get into conclusion in the Western Rural District, the election for the position of Young Generation Leader (YG) of the party in the Western Rural District is gathering steady momentum and the former Zonal Chairman, who is one of the contestants, has promised to transforming attire bases in his community.
Speaking to A-Z after the peaceful conclusion of the zonal election on Saturday, Mohammed Lama Bah who happens to be the former Zonal Chairman promised that apart from his Anti-Drugs and Violence programme he will ensure that attire bases are no more seen as a place for idle youths in the district.
He said an idle mind is the devil’s workshop noting that as the Young Generation Leader he will develop a programme seeking to build on the capacity of the youths. “After we finish giving them the requisite training and fully have their minds engaged, drug abuse and violence will automatically reduce”, said the young politician.
He assured that he will provide the kind of transformation the party is looking for and further lamented that he has helped build the momentum of the party citing that years back the party used to have less than fifty votes but with his skills, he succeeded in giving more votes to the SLPP during the previous elections.
“Being a believer of President Bio’s Paopa ideology, I will succeed in changing the narratives for the young generation across the district”.
Lama challenged his fellow contestants, adding that he is more related to the grassroots than all the other contestants in the race.
He promised to work with the Members of Parliament representing the four constituencies in the district especially Hon. Horace Vincent whom he said he has been working with to bring development at the doorstep of the district.
Stone breakers as well as sand miners in the district have said Lama is their choice because of his continual intervention to their aid.
Alusine Sesay, a sand miner in the Bess Berry community told this medium that the delegates should make no mistake in voting for Lama because he knows the issues better. He cited that a good number of them have benefited from his good gesture.
If all goes well, the District YG election will be held in two weeks’ time.
