Aspiring Member of Parliament for constituency 069 in Portloko District Mariatu Racheal Sesay-Pessima, has over the weekend, donated one hundred bags of rice, one hundred gallons of cooking oil, bags of onions worth over two hundred million new Leones to locals of constituency 069 as part of their Eid-ul Fitri (Pray Day) gifts.
Mariatu Racheal Sesay-Pessima disclosed that the primary purpose for such colossal donations was to solidarize with her Muslim people in order to have a pleasant Eid-ul fitri (Pray Day) celebration.
She said it was logically not ideal to pay a visit to her people especially on such very important Muslim holiday without providing them a gift to celebrate their holiday.
She added that it is part of their tradition to send gift to their people whenever they want to pay visit to their people. As part of the holiday package to her people, madam Mariatu Sesay edified that she donated one hundred bags of rice, one hundred gallons of cooking oil, bags of onion, cartoons of Maggie, plus twenty million Leones cash to aid a memorable holiday celebration. She also disclosed that she made packages for kids as their holiday gifts.
She said the people were very joyous for the Ramadan holiday gifts and equally expressed joy to have had a daughter of the soil to aspire for the position of Member of Parliament in constituency 069. She expressed that the locals of constituency 069 have been faced with so many political deceptions from APC Members of Parliament. Madam Sesay-Pessima assured the people that her aspiration was to challenge those unfortunate narratives.
She urged them to be conscious and vote for development other than mere political party sentiments. Madam Mariatu Sesay-Pessima also disclosed that she had dug so many boreholes, renovated primary schools, engaged the youth in social activities through her annual Le 20 million Mariatu football gala tournament, healthcare facilities especially during the COVID-19 pandemic among others. She added that her Pessima foundation had also been giving aid to locals in that part of the country.
“I am so happy to see my people celebrating me and the SLPP, and also paying less attention to the APC political gimmicks. Our people now are wise enough to choose a representative who can hobnob with them, bring development to the constituency”, she said.
Madam Mariatu Racheal Sesay-Pessima equally disclosed that over 76 villages benefitted from her holiday generosity. She concluded by admonishing her constituents not to allow APC political gimmicks.
The Secretary General for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Alieu Mansarray who was also beneficiary of Madam Mariatu Racheal Pessima’s holiday gifts, expressed elation for the donation. He considered that donation as a great deal for the SLPP and for the community people. He said the donation made the people to feel belonged. He said over the years, such has not been happening for Members of Parliament. He commended Madam Mariatu Racheal Sesay Pessima for visiting over seventy-two villages with food items for people. He reaffirmed that the donation did not come as a surprise because Madam Maraitu Sesay-Pessima has been doing such donation for locals in that constituency.
