The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Kono District Chairman Safea Lesley Moiwa has said that from 2019 to 2022, President Julius Maada Bio’s led government has sent at least Ten Billion Five Hundred and Fifty-Seven Million Two Hundred and Eighty-Six Thousand Leones to the Koidu New Sembehun City Council and Eighteen Billion Four Hundred and Fifty Million One Hundred and Two Thousand Leones to the Kono District Council.
President Bio disclosed during his recent visit to Kono District to officially turn the sod for the construction of the SLPP District Office in Kono. According to the first gentleman of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the monies sent to the aforementioned local councils were meant for the construction of Feeder roads, bridges and culverts within the municipality of Koidu and Kono District as a whole.
Meanwhile, the SLPP Kono District Chairman further maintained that the President Bio-led government was working tirelessly to correct what he described as “ Historical injustices” Kono District had suffered for decades, noting although the two councils are headed by C4Cians, that will not in any ways prevent President Bio from disbursing monies to the two councils to embank on developments in the city and District as a whole.
He pointed out that the monies sent to the aforesaid local councils have been used to construct bridges and culverts within the municipality of Koidu and Kono District as a whole.
Safea L. Moiwa noted that the support of President Bio to the two local councils in Kono District is less talked about by the people of the District because they thought Mayor Komba Mathew Sam and the District Council Chairman Solomon Sahr Gbondo are the backbones of such developments in the District.
He added that it is high time people cleared that contrasting views and let people in the city and district of Koidu and Kono respectively know that President Julius Maada Bio is the benefactor of the aforementioned quantum of monies used to construct feeder roads, bridges and culverts in Koidu City and Kono District as a whole Chairman Safea Lesly Moiwa opined.
He conclusively encouraged all and sundry to see President Bio as a good leader and therefore urged him to do more.
