Youths of Makeni, Bombali district, in the northern region have been cautioned and warned not to hold unlawful demonstrations but ensure that they register next week when voters registration exercise commences.
Joseph Gambai said the mandate of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Green Fixers is maintaining the peace of the country.
Mr. Gambai, who is also the Mobilization and Election Coordinator, for the south, said Makeni is one of the areas targeted for massive sensitization for the transformation of the minds of the youths.
“We stand for peace as our core function”, Gambai informed this medium.
He said youths that perpetuate violence are to be discouraged from keeping in to that path. He said though the security of the country lies with the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), the SLPP Green Fixers are obliged to ensuring that they play their part towards ensuring sanity and peaceful existence of Sierra Leoneans.
He said Makeni is being targeted because of the magnitude of atrocities youths committed on 10th August, 2022.
He said 90% of those arrested are youths noting that to secure the future; the youths have to register and exercise their rights to vote and to be voted for.
“We are interested in sanity to reign in the entire country”, he expressed, adding that the party leader, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio is a man of peace and is on record for fighting for and bringing peace to the country.
He said the party is a peaceful party that is why the organization is going as far as opposition strongholds to raise awareness on the importance of the registration process.
