The Sierra Leone Premier League board discipline Committee has on 11th March 2022 caution Premier League clubs and send a strong warning to Port Authority Football on the protest of Bo Rangers Football following their fielding of illegal players. The letter reads as follow:
This is to inform all Sierra Leone Premier League clubs, and in particular, Ports Authority Football Club, that the Committee is currently looking into a protest filed by Bo Rangers Football Club in respect of the eligibility or lack thereof of Desmond S. Wellington and Abu-Bakarr Kamara who were both fielded by Ports Authority FC in a match between them and Bo Rangers on Saturday, 5th March 2022.
A decision will be issued shortly, but in the interim, the management of Ports Authority FC is advised against fielding the said players in any SLPL matches until a ruling is handed down.
According to Port Authority Football club, they have legal documents against the players, because they have a proper transfers system in acquiring the said player’s service.
They further that as a responsible club they meet the parent clubs of the said two players before getting their services to play for them in the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League.
