In a press conference held on Tuesday 22nd November 2022, at the Police headquarters George Street in Freetown, the Sierra Leone Police disclosed test kits that will be used to detect harmful drugs such as Kush and others when taken into the body.
This was disclosed by the Director of Crime Service at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Commissioner Ibrahim Joseph Lahai, he said the intake of Kush by youths has been a topic of discussion which needs an immediate solution.
He said the manufacturers and importers, suppliers and distributors of these products will be targeted and brought to book as the intake of these substances has been harmful and dangerous not only to the victim but to the nation as a whole.
He continued that what is on social media is not a joke and as such, every Sierra Leoneans must partake in the fight against drug abuse by reporting information related to drug use.
He showered praises on the new Inspector General of Police Williams Fayia Sellu and that with him being a disciplinarian the SLP will tackle the situation.
He cautioned all to abstain from drug abuse, Youths and all security forces.
Mr Kapri Saidu Kamara in his statement cautioned members of the SLP and the public to also desist from drugs as he said a trending viral video of a member of the force was a slap on the faces of the SLP being a champion and hunter against these perpetrators of drug abuse.
He said the officer in question Alie Sankoh was investigated and confessed to the crime whereby he was dismissed immediately from the force.
