Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has issued a press release addressed to the former APC presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Kamara, with regards an intelligence that he is planning to do a political tour to Kambia and Tonko Limba Chiefdom respectively without notifying the SLP.

According to the SLP, such events tend to attract huge supporters from the places mentioned and because of this; the police expect that Dr. Samura must seek the recourse of police approval, for them to have tendered proper security planning and coverage before engaging in the planned events.

The police are therefore concerned that this could attract a big security risk without the involvement of the SLP and it could lead to public disorderly situations.

In light of this, the police wishes for Dr. Samura and the team to make it a priority in seeking the approval of the Inspector General of Police, before planning and embarking on such events,  because the entire management of the SLP considers the safety and security of everyone residing in Sierra Leone as their responsibility.

They, therefore, anticipate Dr. Samura Kamara and his team’s compliance with the provisions of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965, which states ‘notify the police in writing for approval.
