At their weekly press briefing, Sierra Leone Police has assured of maintaining relative peace across the country during, before, during and after any major activities nationwide.

Amadu Manneh, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Director of Operations said the Sierra Leone Police had deployed personnel during the chieftaincy election that took place in the township of Kamakwie which led to a smooth outcome. He stated upon their return from Kamakwie town, a group of young men made roadblocks to disrupt the discharge of their duty which clung them to make some arrests.

He revealed that during parliament proceedings in the midweek, the Sierra Leone Police instituted an operation to calm the influx of people making their way into the well of Parliament; adding that as a result of restoring peace within and outside the compass of the parliament, they had to position personnel at strategic locations that led to a peaceful outcome.

Director of Operations Amadu Manneh stated that they would continue to maintain relative peace even amid the general elections period. He urged Sierra Leonean to cooperate with the Sierra Leone Police and make immediate feedback, especially in a looming situation. ‘’We have to maintain with the implementation of our core mandates,’’ AIG Amadu Manneh said.

Brima James Musa, Sub Inspector and Media Officer in Kenema said there had been peace within and out of Kenema as the people are enjoying calmness in different quarters. He said they instituted a proactive deployment of personnel during the visit of President Bio to Kenema.

Andrew Mondeh, Sub Inspector and Media Officer in Bo the Southern region disclosed that a group of men in recent days engaged in a masquerade parade where they made some arrests. He said in 2018, President Bio had banned all forms of masquerade parades within the country.

Edward Senesie, Regional Commander in Freetown-East said there had been a sense of relative peace and people are safely enjoying a peaceful ambience in the Freetown-East.
