The Sierra Leone Students’ Loan Scheme Secretariat (SLOAN – SL) has on Thursday 23rd February, 2023, in a press release, invited applications for financial assistance from Sierra Leoneans students in tertiary institutions.
As education remained the topmost priority of the New Direction Government, The Sierra Leone Students’ Loan Scheme intimated that it had already received funds from the Government of Sierra Leone to pilot the loan scheme for students in tertiary institutions. The Secretariat of SLOAN-SL specified that the loan was for the less privileged Sierra Leoneans, pursuing courses in institutions accredited by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). It maintained that the financial assistance would be in form of loans.
Encouraging students in tertiary institutions to further their educations, the secretariat, piloting the loan scheme, affirmed that the advertised loan scheme was meant for students in the Masters and PhD categories. It placed strong emphasis for female students in that level to apply.
Accessing the application forms, the secretariat noted that an application-processing fee of 250 New Leones must be pain to access the online application PIN. It clarified that the payment could be made at any Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Branch or online at https://pins.sloanonline.sl. According to the date stipulated in the press release, the forms would be available from the 24th February to the 15th March 2023.
For further information on the application guidelines, interested applicants were directed to visit the Sierra Leone Students’ Loan Scheme website at www.sloan-slorg, and the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education MTHE website. Applicants were also directed to contact the Customer Care at the Sierra Leone Students Loan Scheme between the hours of 9am to 430pm.
