The Sierra Leone National Cycling Association (SLNCA) has on December 10 2023 concluded the second round of the Salone Cycling Cup Series ‘the Le Col Lunsar Criterium’.

Following the success of the official launching of the Salone Cycling Cup Series in Freetown which was sponsored by Tacugama Chimpanzee, the second round was extra ordinary with thousands of inhabitants cheering not only their own athletes, but also all the other riders that were racing around the Lunsar Town.

Over 100 athletes across the country assembled at the Lunsar Town clock tower which serves as the start and end points, as Junior and Female riders competed in a 16-lap Criterium and the Elite riders competed in a 20-lap Criterium.

Lunsar Cycling Club continue to dominate the podium with Moses Lamin Bangura winning the Elite category back-to-back after securing first position in Freetown’s edition, while Kalil Kallie Kamara of Lunsar Cycling Club won the Junior Category and Kono Cycling Club’s Aminata Jabbie emerged as winner of the Female category.

In the Elite category, Moses Lamin Kamara of Lunsar Cycling Club finished in first position, second place was Alusine Conteh of Flames Cycling Club and Ibrahim Kamara of C2C Cycling Club ended in third position, while Kalil Kallie Kamara of Lunsar Cycling Club finished in first place, Amadu Sow of Flames Cycling Club secured second position and Alhaji S. Saccoh of Makeni Cycling Club finished third in the Junior category and in the Female category, Aminata Jabbie of Kono Cycling Club secured first position, with Esther G, Mansaray of Mbuntu Cycling Club finishing in second place and Blessing Jabbie of Kono Cycling Club ended in third position.

The Sierra Leone National Cycling Association is appealing to the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA) including the National Olympic Committee (NOC) to come on board and sponsor the third round of the Salone Cycling Cup Series which will continue in Kono on the 28th January 2024.

The past two stages were sponsored by private partners (The Tacugama and The Le Col) and now they are appealing for supports because the Salone Cycling Cup Series is their own Premier League, whatever the sponsor they receive from the Government, the Sports Ministry and NSA, including the NOC, will be appreciated, according to SLNCA.
