The long-awaited Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Elective Congress finally came to its peaceful end at the Wusum Hotel in Makeni on the 5th 2021. The FA delegates elected Thomas Daddy Brima as the new president after securing 31 votes cast as against 26 votes for Sadick Deen Nyarkoh.
Mr. Brima has four (4) years of mandates to steer the affairs of the country’s football Association and activities, which many Football fans think is going to be a herculean task.
Many sport pundits have suggested the much needed unification of a divided sector must be the primary challenge for the new administration that is destined to make up for the lost years.
Other winners were as follow:
Vice President (1) one goes to Harold Nat Johnson with 32 votes to 25 votes Paul S. Saquee
However, Vice President Position Two goes to Alie Badara Tarawallie uncontested.
For the FA Executive officials, two members were needed out of five (5), therefore the top two with the highest votes were Kweku Lisk with 32 votes and Sorie Mohamed Jalloh with 31 votes and Ramatulai Kamara joins the Executive officials uncontested as a reserved position for a woman.
The Elections however was described as peaceful and many Football fans are calling on all its members to come on board to move the development of Football within and outside the country.
The President Elect, Mr. Thomas Daddy Brima expressed appreciation to all those who bestowed confidence in him to assume the mantle of leadership of the Football Association. He also thanked the outgone president for her tremendous support since the start of his campaign to date and called on everbody to come on board and change the football narrative.
Thomas Daddy Brima was a Footballer and has spent many years in Football Administration with Kissy All Stars and now currently the Chairman of Wilberforce Strikers a division one club in the Western Area in Freetown.
He affirmed that his first task is to assembly the stakeholders under one Umbrella to allow them vet out their anger and secure a possible solution to address all those concerns for a better atmosphere for football to develop in the country.
He added that his task is to reconcile with the Stakeholders and resolve the long drawn impasse in Football leadership arena, noting that if there is problem in any house it will be difficult for the house to hold together and foster development.
Sadick Deen- Nyarkoh the runner up sent a congratulatory message to Thomas Daddy Brima for being elected to serve the Football as the president.
In his message his said “we believe in football, we equally believe in the fact that football can only prosper in an environment of Unity, peace and cohesion.”
He pledged to support the new SLFA Executive to penetrate through the impenetrable and make the game a better one in Sierra Leone.
