The Sierra Leone Football Association has today May 9 2023 completed the first segment of this year’s Member Association Course for Assessors/Instructors and Elite Referees in Bo City, Southern Sierra Leone.
The first phase which was specifically tailored for Assessors and Instructors came to a successful conclusion with the distribution of FIFA certificates of participation to 30 male and female veteran referees selected from across the country.
Frankly, Marrah the Referees Manager at the Sierra Leone Football Association started by telling thanks to the Football Association for their timely support which he considered to be tremendous in the area of developing the Referees in the Country. He noted that the course span starts from the 5th to 9th May 2023 and there were two class all went on smoothly and satisfactory from the two instructors from FIFA. He said there is still much more to learn as the course came at the right time.
The lead instructor from FIFA while making his statement, said he was impressed with the participants throughout the course. He noted that they had learnt a lots in the past few days and with much knowledge especially in areas like Time Management, Match Controlled for Assessors and with knowledge of proper match officiating.
He affirmed that FIFA wants to reach their goals and more so the SLFA had invested more resources to help in the capacity build of referees and match assessors across the Country. He called on the referees and Assessors to aim big not only to be officiating the locals’ leagues but AFON, WORLD CUP and other international tournaments.
The closing ceremony was witnessed by SLFA Executive Committee Member Madam Ramatulai Kamara, Acting General Secretary Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh and Chairman of the SLFA Referees Committee Alhaji M. A. Sesay.
