The Director of the Sierra Leone Football Association on the 10th of August 2022 congratulated Bo Rangers FC and FC Kallon for having gone through a successful domestic and CAF club licensing assessment system.
He affirmed that it was a challenging task for SLFA and in particular himself as Club Licensing Manager of the SLFA to conduct the first ever club licensing assessment tests for two of our domestic clubs for CAF inter clubs matches.
He noted that he was particularly encouraged by the President of the SLFA, Thomas Daddy Brima, his Executive Committee, and my immediate boss, Christopher Kamara in carrying out this daunting task for the first time in our football history.
He further that the process would not have been successful had it not been for the cooperation of the two clubs and especially Bo Rangers FC, who during the exercise, had to undertake a trip to Liberia to assess the Samuel Kayon Doe Sports Complex, the would -be the venue for their international matches.
He added today, we are proud to say as a Football Association that we have conducted our first international CL system that paves the way for the participation of two prominent clubs from our Football Association in the continent clubs championship.
He called on the Champions Bo Rangers Football Club that the celebration should be over now and it’s time for these football ambassadors of our country to start their preparations in earnest more so when their respective opponents have been revealed to them in this afternoon’s inter clubs draw.
It’s exactly a month away from the start of inter-club hostilities in the continent and we are optimistic that the two torchbearers will make the nation proud as Sierra Leone returns to these competitions after five years in the wilderness.
He pointed out that in the 2022/23 premier league season, all participating clubs must undergo a club licensing assessment process before they can be eligible to participate in that competition.
CAF in the just concluded Continental Club licensing seminar hosted in Cairo, Egypt, pronounced heavy financial sanctions on Members Associations who fail to do a proper license system in their respective federations in domestic competitions.
The financial sanctions range from $10000 minimum to $50000 maximum or a ban from taking part in CAF competitions. The SLFA will not like to be found wanton of such infringement of the CL standard regulations.
