SLFA Commences Two-Day Training For Match Coordinators

The Sierra Leone Football Association has today Wednesday October 25 commences a two-day training for match coordinators at the SLFA secretariat in Freetown.

The training is geared towards enhancing the capacity of over 70 football match coordinators (male and female) to ensure best practice and professionalism in carrying out their duties in preparation for the commencement of a record number of 6 competitions across all categories, including the male and female Premier Leagues.

The opening ceremony was witnessed by the SLFA Assistant General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, Chairman of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board Victor Lewis, SLFA Director of Competitions Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, Head of Women’s Football Miriam Heroe and the Head of Safety and Security Mohamed Bowen Freeman.

Addressing the participants, the Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh stated that, “such a training is key to the smooth running of football competitions in the country”. He further revealed that “the Sierra Leone Football Association is set to conduct more trainings to capacitate all key officials in match organization, to enhance performance, discipline and fair play in the game”.

Making his statement during the official starts of the training sessions Mohamed Benson Bawoh the acting General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association said this is second training the Football Federation has kick-Off to empower the Coordinators

He affirmed that these training of Coordinators is strategic because the coming League season the Premier league Board want to get the best from all match Coordinators in different Venues across the Country, noting that few months the Sierra Leone Football Association sent in two staff to Liberia who went  through a match Coordinators training from FIFA and CAF and they have now wealth of knowledge in training of  trainees in terms of match Coordinators.

He further that, the Football Federation is set to roll out ten Competitions across the Country and base on that the Federation need  to train match Coordinators ahead of those Competitions, because most those Coordinators

He affirmed that these training of Coordinators is strategic because the coming League season the Premier league Board want to get the best from all match Coordinators in different Venues across the Country, noting that few months the Sierra Leone Football Association sent in two staff to Liberia who went through a match Coordinators training from FIFA and CAF and they have now wealth of knowledge in training of trainees in terms of match Coordinators.

The training will climax on the 26th October 2023 and outstanding participants will be qualified as SLFA Match Commissioners.
