The Sierra Leone Boxing Association (SLBA) has intensified preparation ahead of the Olympic Games qualifiers that is set to take place in Madagascar at the end of this month.
According to the head coach of the Sierra Leone Boxing Association, Rtd Foday Conteh said the Boxers have been in an impressive form with training for the past five months in preparation for the Olympic Games. He further the boxers are ever more determined to represent their country, and to clinch a spot at the qualifying stage.
As part of their preparations the Vice President of the Sierra Leone Boxing Association A.S.P Mohaya Koroma intimated this medium that coming weekend, the association have decided to stage a two days Boxing competition in Lunsar to spot out new talent ahead of the Olympic games qualifiers.
Whilst, Foday Conteh the head coach of the Boxing Association affirmed that for the trip to Lunsar a total of 21 Boxers will be part of it to train young athletes who may desire to part of it.
He assured that just after the Lunsar trip they will be preparing for national Championship that will take place in BO City, where teams from all the clubs across the country will be part of it, and that through national Championship they will select the Boxers that will take part in the Madagascar qualifiers. He expressed his confidence that the current Boxers will clinch a spot.
This medium gathered that the last time the Association staged two Championship was for senior and light feather weight fighters and lots of the Boxers who took part in the Boxing ring t has made massive improvement and have learnt a lots in terms of technical knowledge of the sport.
However, the Association is for calling on Government to help them with financial supports to be able to participate in the qualifiers.
