Martin Sellu, Gbassay Swarray, Foday Sallu, John Bangalie (alias Boika), Joseph Gilamaja Kamara (alias Shine), and Foday Alhassan Sesay have been committed to the High Court by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown. The six men face five charges, including conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation, conspiracy to murder, robbery with aggravation, murder, and receiving stolen goods, contrary to Section 33(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offences, between August 1 and August 29, 2025, in Bo City, Southern Province, the first five defendants conspired with others unknown to commit robbery with aggravation.
Count two further states that during the same period and in the same location, the defendants conspired to commit murder.
Count three outlines that on August 30, 2025, at Buma III Section, Kenema in the Eastern Province, the five defendants, armed with a locally made single-barrel gun, robbed Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu of a grey Lenovo laptop computer valued at $350 and physical cash amounting to 5,000 Leones. The defendants allegedly used personal violence against Reverend Father Amadu during the robbery.
Count four alleges that on the same date and location, the defendants murdered Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu.
Count five states that on August 29, 2025, in Waterloo, Western Area, the sixth defendant, Foday Alhassan Sesay, received a grey Lenovo laptop computer, valued at $350, from Paul Allan Mose Jones, knowing it had been stolen.
After the charges were read and explained, no plea was taken from the accused persons on the capital offences. However, the sixth defendant, who is charged with receiving stolen property, pleaded not guilty.
In his ruling, Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah stated that after reviewing the evidence presented by the prosecution, he was satisfied there was sufficient evidence linking the accused persons to the offences. He therefore committed all six defendants to stand trial in the High Court of Sierra Leone for the offences of murder, robbery with aggravation, and related charges.
The accused persons have been remanded in custody pending their trial in the High Court.
