The remains of lecturer Kabba Santigie Bangura of the Geography Department at Fourah Bay College (FBC) have been discovered in a shrine operated by one witch doctor, Ibrahim Kalokoh who is currently on the run.

Acting on a tip-off from stakeholders of Sherbro Town on Saturday 16th April 2023, officers and some community members rushed to the house of the herbalist and opened a room where a grass mattress was laid.

Underneath the mattress, the men dug through and discovered a huge man later identified as Kabba Santigie Bangura by relatives who dashed to the scene on Sunday.

The late lecturer’s belongings such as clothes were said to have been seen in the shrine, according to the Waterloo Police. The remains were still at the crime scene on to Sunday evening awaiting post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death as the law requires.

The Headman at Four Mile, Momoh Bangura said he had reported to the Newton Police Post that some members of the community were not satisfied with the activities of the witch doctor whom he said was caught three months ago at the cemetery trying to bury a boy that was with him.

Pa Momoh explained that neighbours had told him that the witch doctor had flogged the boy seriously the night before his death. According to the Headman, that incident was reported to the Media Officer of the Waterloo Police Station, ASP Allieu Jalloh.

He added that the witch doctor was detained for one week and released without being charged in court which surprised some members of the community.

Responding, the Media Officer of the Waterloo Police Station, ASP Allieu Jalloh said Ibrahim Kalloh was in their custody for three days and they had to release him because there was no specific offence they could charge him with.

Community members of Sherbo Town had raised alarm reporting that they did not want to see the witch doctor in their community but the landlord Mammie Yabom and her husband had stood their ground that Ibrahim Kalokoh should stay as her tenant.

Eye witness account intimates that the bad odour coming from the room was unbearable raising eye brows that something clandestine had taken place.

It could be recalled that a Fisherman at Fogbo village called Fullah, aged 46, and Saidu Sesay of 34 Main Motor Road, Lumpa, Waterloo were arrested and detained over the missing of lecturer Kabba Santigie Bangura at the Waterloo Police Station after its Cyber Unit traced them to be the last people that communicated with the late man who had been missing since 6th March.

Meanwhile, six people including the landlord are in custody while the main suspect is on the run as an effort is being made to clamp him down.
