Sino-Sierra Leone Aluminium Association Celebrates 76th Anniversary of Founding of People’s Republic of China

Sino-Sierra Leone Aluminium Association (SISLA), in collaboration with the Gansu Jianlou Group, marked the 76th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with a Friendship Football Match at the National Stadium in Freetown.

In his remarks at the event, Deputy Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Zhang Dianbin, described the occasion as “a milestone in the friendship between China and Sierra Leone.” He extended warm greetings to Sierra Leonean football enthusiasts and expressed appreciation to SISLA and the Gansu Jianlou Group for organizing the event.

“Football is a language that transcends borders and serves as a bridge that connects hearts,” Ambassador Zhang said, emphasizing the role of sport in fostering unity and cooperation between nations.

He encouraged both teams to embody the true spirit of friendship and sportsmanship during the match.

“I hope all players can inherit the spirit of ‘friendship first, competition second,’ respect their opponents and referees, and demonstrate skill, cooperation, and positivity,” he remarked.

Ambassador Zhang expressed optimism that the Friendship Football Match would be thrilling and successful, wishing all players excellent results. He also invited guests to a cocktail party later in the evening at China House, to continue the celebration.

Augustine T. Mansaray, President of SISLA, also spoke at the event, expressing gratitude for the long-standing relationship between Sierra Leone and China. He commended the Chinese Government for its continuous support to Sierra Leone, particularly in the construction of the National Stadium, which he referred to as “a lasting symbol of friendship and cooperation.”

Mr. Mansaray urged all alumni to continue upholding the values of friendship, mutual respect, and fair competition, principles they embraced during their time in China. He noted that the football match served as a testament to the resilience and strength of the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

Concluding the ceremony, Ambassador Zhang reaffirmed the enduring bond between China and Sierra Leone, declaring,

“The friendship between China and Sierra Leone remains as evergreen as the vitality on this field! Now, I declare the China-Sierra Leone Friendship Football Match to begin!”

The anniversary event highlighted the deep-rooted diplomatic and cultural ties between China and Sierra Leone, demonstrating how sports continue to strengthen mutual understanding and collaboration between the two countries.
