The Kono District Eye Clinic Manager has said that Sight saving issues have been incorporated into the Primary Health Care service Delivery in the district.
According to Jacob Senesie the said incorporation is as a result of the improvement so far made in the district with regards the treatment of issues that have to do with the eyes.
Mr. Senesie intimated this medium that for 2021 the Eye Clinic in the District embarked on service delivery with regards the medication of patients and the training of staff noting that almost every PHU in the district benefited from recruited and trained staff to treat minor eye cases.
He maintained that major or serious cases are referred to the Koidu Government Hospital for professional attention or treatment.
Jacob Senesie the Kono District Eye Clinic Manager further told our reporter that most of the major or serious cases are from the agricultural and mining sectors where most of the times people are heavily knocked by stones or sticks owning to the mining and Agricultural activities in the district.
Talking about the challenges faced by the aforementioned Clinic, Jacob Senesie pointed out that lack of mobility to visit far to reach areas in the district is seriously affecting the smooth operations of the Clinic and therefore called on the government and International Non-governmental organizations for help so that the Clinic will provide effective and efficient services in the district.
