Sierra Leone’s under 17 side (Sierra Stars) has on 8th June 2022, recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Morocco at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium to begin preparations for the WAFU U-17 in Cape Verde qualifiers on a positive note.
Ibrahim Jalloh scored the only goal of the match inside the 30 minutes of Sierra Leone’s first victory over Morocco in all competitions.
Chernor Barrie had to make way for Ibrahim Jalloh, the goal scorer in the 20th minute after picking up an injury.
Coach Mohamed Lamin’s side dominated the game in the first half with solid crosses connecting the attack.
The first half ended with Ibrahim Jalloh’s goal being the difference between the two sides.
An early onslaught by the Moroccans was quickly halted by the Sierra Stars who returned in from the break with a clear determination to double their lead and confirm their dominance in the game.
Francis I. Kalokoh came close to adding to Sierra Stars’ lead after a long range from Kabbah Conteh but was disallowed by the Assistant Referee for an offside.
The Moroccans showed a glimpse of brilliance in the dying minutes piling pressure on the defense to restore parity but their prowess including a poor decision from the referee that reduced Sierra Stars to 10 hangs paid no dividend.
Coach Mohamed Lamin introduced fresh legs Chernor Mansaray, Abu Koroma, Abu Bakarr Turay, and Santigie Bangura to consolidate Sierra Stars’ lead.
The game ended with Sierra Stars claiming the first Sierra Leone victory over Morocco, a hard-won victory in its own making.
