Sierra Leonean Teqball Players Light Up African Beach Games

The Sierra Leonean Tegball players have registered an impressive win in the 2nd African Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia.

Both Abdulai Bangura and Christian are making things difficult for other nations. The duos are in the quarterfinals after defeating Benin 12-5 and 12-1 in two straight sets in the double competition.

Unisa Deen Kargbo, the president of the Sierra Leone Teqball Association, said the boys started the group games on a good footing defeating their counterparts the likes of Cape Verde, Cameroon, and Benin in group stages and making their way to the quarter-final stage but lost to Algeria by two sets to one (2-1). Noting that in the Mix double Sierra Leone lost to Ghana because a Sierra Leonean female sustain a cram and was unable to continue and the rule of the game state that if a player is unable to continue in the field of play the point is taken and given to their Counterpart.

He affirmed that they encounter some difficulties as some sporting Federations were unable to make the trip to Tunisia due to Air Traffic issues, but they were able to travel with three Sporting Federations namely Sierra Leone Aquatics Federation, Sierra Leone Tegball Federation, and Judo Federations. Noting that in terms of funding, they contacted the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Authority to help fund the team, Sierra Leone in the second edition of the Africa Beach Games.

He is confident that the team in Sierra Leone will continue to perform well in Tunisia. Noting that the players have been working tirelessly to make the country proud.

Meanwhile, the Chef de Mission of Sierra Leone, Yayah Koroma, is optimistic that team Sierra Leone will make history in the 2nd African Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia.
