The Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League has made significant progress since its inception with two Football Seasons thus far, that is, the 2022/2023 Season and the 2023/2024 season making the league one of the most competitive Football Leagues in the country.

The Success of this Season is marked by a vibrate Board consisting of 9 members. The Season was officially launched on 23rd December 2023 at the Southern Arena, Bo City, in the Southern Region of the Republic of Sierra Leone with a remarkable Opening Ceremony which saw defending champions, Mogbewomo Queens FC, defeat Ram-K 1-0. The opening ceremony was graced with the presence of several dignitaries and people from all walks of life.

There were 12 Teams which participated in this League Season. The Board provided the total sum of Nle120,000 to each of these teams, having disbursed the sum of Nle40,000 and Nle 80,000 to each Team during the first phase and second phase of this Season respectively. The winners of this League Season will further receive from the Board Sle 200,000 while the runners-up will receive Sle150,000.

The defending champions, Mogbewomo Queens FC, were crowned champions of the 2023-24 League Season after playing 22 matches winning 21 and having just 1 draw. With over 86 goals scored, 9 goals conceded and 64 points, Mogbwemo Queens ended the season as the Invincible.

They were followed by FC Kallon, Ram-K, Koya Queens, and Mena Queens, having secured 55, 40, 37, and 35 points, respectively. Correctional Service FC and Albitaya Queens are the relegated Teams having secured the 11th and 12th positions with 15, and 0 points respectively on the League Table.

Patricia Umu, VEM FC and Malema Queens sit in 6th, 7th and 8th place in the Table with 31, 29 and 27 points. SL Police FC is in 8th position with 24 points.

For the second time, Kumba Z. Brima of FC Kallon registered 39 goals, followed by Mariama Sambu with 32 goals, and Kadiatu M. Kamara both of Mogbewmo Queens with 18 goals. Sarah Turay of Koya Queens and Salamatu J. Kamara each scored 13 goals, while Wuyah Mohai of Mogbewmo Queens and Lucy Kikeh of FC Kallon scored 12 goals each.

The top assist providers are Kadiatu M. Kamara of Mogbwemo Queens, Adama Kargbo of FC Kallon, Wuyah Mohai of Mogbwemo Queens, Rashidatu Kamara of Mogbwemo Queens, and Kumba Z. Brima of FC Kallon with 25, 21, 12, 11, and 11 assists, respectively.

It has indeed been a fantastic Season.

The Board was sponsored by the Government of Sierra Leone in the sum of SLE2,879,700/00. Other sponsorships came from the Sierra Leone Football Association, Mr. Didi Abu and Leone Rock.

With more support from individuals and institutions, the girls will go beyond borders.
