Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League Board Chairperson Visits Sports Minister

The Chairperson of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League Board, Madam Catherine Sillah, on Friday 20th June, 2025, paid a special courtesy call on the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James Teima, at her Bishop House office at Siaka Stevens Stadium, Freetown.

During the meeting, Madam Sillah updated the Minister on the ongoing financial challenges facing the Female Premier League. She also presented an overview of the recent successes of the Senior Female National Team, particularly highlighting their outstanding performance at the recently concluded WAFU Zone A Tournament held in Mauritania, where the team emerged as overall champions. She attributed much of the team’s success to the positive impact of the nationwide Female Premier League.

In response, Minister James-Teima reaffirmed government’s continued commitment to supporting women’s football. She assured Madam Sillah that the financial issues would be reviewed and resolved promptly. The Minister emphasized that the country is already beginning to reap the benefits of the Female Premier League, especially through improved international tournament performance.
