Sierra Leone showcased its hospitality and commitment to regional cooperation as His Excellency Joseph Boakai, President of Liberia, made an official visit via the Liberia-Pujehun highway. The meticulously organized event demonstrated the nation’s dedication to excellence, cultural pride, and seamless diplomatic relations.
The Five Brigade Gondama Barracks, under the leadership of Brigadier General G.M. Bangura, took center stage with an impeccable Guard of Honour parade held in Jendema. The ceremonial display, complemented by vibrant performances from Sierra Leone’s renowned cultural dance troupes, highlighted the nation’s rich traditions and artistic heritage.
Dignitaries, including Paramount Chiefs and other esteemed personalities, attended the historic occasion, emphasizing the deep cultural and historical ties between Sierra Leone and Liberia. Their presence underscored the mutual respect and unity that have defined relations between the two neighbouring countries.
A robust security operation ensured the smooth passage and safety of President Boakai and his delegation. The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), led by Regional Police Commander South, AIG Brima Kanneh, strategically deployed personnel across major towns from Jendema to Bo City and beyond. This comprehensive operation, coordinated in collaboration with the Office of National Security (ONS), the Fire Force, and the Road Safety Corps, showcased the strength of inter-agency cooperation.
Security coverage extended to key locations, including the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) office in Bo, and continued seamlessly along the route to Freetown. AIG Kanneh personally accompanied the convoy up to Masiaka, ensuring the highest level of security throughout the journey.
