Sierra Leone Vs. Benin to be played in June 2021

The Crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Sierra Leone and the Squirrels of Benin has been shifted to the next FIFA International break which is June 2021.

The crunch tie supposed was to have taken place in Freetown on Tuesday 30th March 2021 in Freetown  the Capital City, Sierra Leone, but the Benin National Team refused to play after of five player of their first team were tested positive of Corona Virus as they disagreed with the validity of the results.

Statement from the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) reads: “The Confederation of Africa Football Organizing Committee for Africa Cup of Nations has postponed the AFCON 2021 qualifications match between Sierra Leone and Benin to the next FIFA International window in June 2021.”

The match was scheduled to be played yesterday 30th March 2021 in Freetown. They made this decision after reviewing official incident that stopped the match from taking place at the scheduled time.

The Committee’s rational shift of the dates was based on the fact that the match was to take place on the last day on International window.

The Committee therefore feels that moving the match to the next International window, on that note CAF has informed the Football Federation of Sierra Leone Football and Benin about it decision and will provide further information on the rearranged fixture in due.”
