The Sierra Leone Senior National Team, known as the Leone Stars, will host Zambia today at the SKD Stadium in Liberia for their final match of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.
Heading into this match, Sierra Leone faces little hope of qualifying for the upcoming AFCON tournament in Morocco in 2025. The Leone Stars’ chances took a significant hit after their disappointing performance against Chad on match day five of the ongoing qualifiers in Ivory Coast last Wednesday.
In preparation for today’s crucial encounter against Zambia’s Chipolopolo, the Leone Stars held an intense training session in Liberia. This match represents the end of their campaign in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, and the team is eager to conclude on a high note.
In related news, veteran striker Kei Kamara, who recently rejoined the national team, has left the camp this evening at the request of his MLS club, which is gearing up for an important playoff match in the United States. Consequently, he will not participate in Tuesday’s game.
Despite Kamara’s absence, Head Coach Amidu Karim remains optimistic and expresses confidence in the players currently in camp. “We have a strong team, and everyone is focused on delivering a positive result for Sierra Leone,” he states.
The Leone Stars are determined to secure a vital win against Zambia to maintain their FIFA Ranking. The match day 6 of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers will kick off concurrently, with Ivory Coast hosting Chad at 4 PM local time in Ivory Coast.
