To strengthen connections between the government and its citizens, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) has announced the first-ever Salone Civic Festival, which will take place from December 11-12, 2024, at the Youyi Building in the capital city.

According to the official announcement, the festival aims to foster civic engagement, cultural celebration, and interactive learning.

The event will feature various activities, including interactive booths and “Big Five” progress exhibitions where government ministries will share information, answer questions, and present updates on their initiatives.

Engaging sessions with key government officials and leaders will provide insights into national policies and encourage public participation. Cultural and arts celebrations will highlight Sierra Leone’s rich heritage, including music, art exhibitions, and fashion showcases.

Additionally, the festival will launch new platforms, policies, and strategies from various ministries, such as the Civic Education Strategy, Love Salone, Feed Salone, Clean Salone, Heal Salone, Digitize Salone, and Salone for We All, all designed to foster national pride and responsible citizenship.

Live performances, film screenings, and cultural showcases will also be part of the festival, along with civic awards honoring individuals and groups contributing to the country’s civic and national development.

“This historic festival is a unique opportunity for citizens to engage directly with the government, celebrate our culture, and participate in building a united, responsible Sierra Leone,” the announcement states. “Join us for the Salone Civic Festival as we kick off a new era of civic pride and partnership.”

Conclusively, the “SaloneBigPasWiAll” hashtag has been introduced to encourage public participation and social media engagement with the event.
