The Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association, has on the  30th April 2021 dispatched two Swimmers and a coach to embark on an intensive training ahead of this year’s Olympic Games that is set to take place in Japan.

The Association is the first and only sporting discipline to present qualified athletes for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Two the athletes will start their training from South Africa and Italy for camping and advanced training ahead of the Olympics.

Qualified athletes Joshua Wyse and Tity Dumbuya will be joined at the camp by Mohamed Kamara from the FINA Development Center in Senegal.

The swimmers and their Coach will spend ten days at a CANA (Africa Swimming Federation) Training Camp in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and six weeks in Milan and Monza before returning to Sierra Leone to join the delegation that will be going to the Tokyo 2020 games.

Since the qualification of the athletes to the games, and up till now, the association has been finding it very difficult to attract support from the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Sports.

The Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association National Team have represented the country in competitions and championships in all the continents at all levels. They have brought in more laurels to the Country, and won many admirations from local and international fans.
