SIERRA LEONE SINGLE LEG AMPUTEE TEAM BOWS OUT OF NATIONS CUP IN TANZANIA

Sierra Leone Single leg Amputee team has on the 30th November 2021 bowed out of Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Tanzanian as they lost two straight matches.

Sierra Leone Single leg Amputee won their first match against Uganda by three goals to nil on Sunday as they started the tournament with a determined and winning mentality, but that fad out following defeats to the host nation Tanzania and Morocco respective in their last two matches in the tournament.

According to Pastor Abraham Bangura the head coach of the Sierra Leone Single leg Amputee team

“ I feel disappointed with the way the team bow out of the tournament, because after winning our first game, I was optimist that we’re are going to win the tournament or even secured the qualification to the world Cup, but that has all being dash out with two defeats were face both against Morocco and the host Tanzania.”

He added that their only hope now is to go back home and continue our preparation for other competitions.

According to one Alusine Jalloh, the assistant coach they were not treated fairly, as several reasons came up one has to do with training facilities is not provided for the team to embark on the usual training, some of their key players were injured, transportation, is also a challenge as most the players have to walk a long distance during and after training.

According to the Organizers of the Single Leg Amputee the formats in this year’s Africa Nations Cup four teams will qualify to the World Cup that will take place in Turkey next year, and in all Sierra Leone has failed to make it to the World Cup next year.

The last time Sierra Leone ended in the quarter-final stage was in Angola where they were tip to even win the tournament, unfortunately, this year they bowed out at the group stages.

This is the 7th edition of the Amputee Single leg Nations Cup, the first edition took place in Sierra Leone as eight Countries took part in the first edition, but this year’s tournament saw sixteen Countries were present to compete with other nations in Tanzania. Sierra Leone delegation is expected to return by Thursday the second of December 2021.
