A high-level delegation from Sierra Leone has arrived in Moscow to participate in the Russia Energy Week International Forum 2025, one of the world’s leading platforms for discussions on global energy and sustainability.

The delegation is led by Hon. Mathew Sahr Nyuma, Leader of Government Business in Parliament, and Mr. Umaru Napoleon Koroma, Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources.

The ten-member team includes Mr. Foday Bangali Lahai Mansaray, Director General of the Petroleum Directorate; Mr. Zanu Deen Karim, Director of Finance; Mr. Alusine Timbo, Deputy Director of Mines at the National Minerals Agency; and Dr. John Cooper, Director of Policy and Research at the Ministry of Mines, among other senior officials.

According to government sources, the visit is part of Sierra Leone’s strategy to attract investment and build international partnerships in the energy and extractive sectors.

During the forum, the team will engage in panel discussions and bilateral meetings with Russian ministries and global energy corporations, focusing on cooperation in oil and gas, mining, and energy infrastructure development.

A government spokesperson emphasized that the mission underscores Sierra Leone’s growing commitment to global energy cooperation, noting that international engagements like this are “vital for forging partnerships and driving sustainable energy growth.”

The delegation was welcomed by Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo and staff of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Moscow.
