The Sierra Leone Premier League Board has on Friday 18th June 2021 suspended the 2020/2021 league season.

The Suspension of the Premier league came about following when a press Release from NACOVERC which states that all matches should be played behind closed doors and after a meeting with the 18 Premier league clubs they reached a decision to suspend the league until forward notice.

This came as a surprise as many clubs having matches to be played this weekend have already gotten their players together to honor the fixtures.

Some clubs are worried looking at the Economic strength of some of this clubs, a large number of these clubs largely dependent on gate taking for survival, which is normally used in the running of the clubs.

So far in the ongoing league some clubs have played ten matches while others have eight matches.

The league is a two leg league, meaning each club will have played thirty – six (36) matches so there is long way to end the league.

According to NACOVERC they want to restrict all social gathering in other to be able to contain the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

This weekend we could have seen big matches in the ongoing league, the East Derby could have played this Sunday when East End Lions could have lock horns with FC Kallon at the Siaka Stevens Stadium and at the BO Mini Stadium, the league leaders BO rangers could have hosted Central Parade the team that is in third position in the league.

Many football fans are calling on NACOVERC to see reasons and allowed them to watch matches in the different venues across the Country.
