Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) has strongly refuted false social media claims alleging the smuggling of sixteen (16) containers through the port. The Authority has categorically stated that the information circulating is false, misleading, and unfounded.

SLPHA emphasized that no such incident has occurred within its operational areas. The Authority expressed concern over the deliberate spread of this misinformation, which it believes is intended to damage the credibility of the Authority and its management team.

To clarify the matter and set the record straight, the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority wishes to address the following points:

Contrary to the claims circulating on social media, the Authority does not operate on Sundays. All official port operations are conducted strictly on designated working days, as per the established procedures.

The false reports fail to provide any container numbers or relevant shipment details to substantiate the claims, further exposing their lack of credibility.

All cargo entering and leaving the port is handled under strict supervision by customs and security authorities. This includes advanced tracking and clearance systems managed jointly by the SLPHA, the National Revenue Authority (Customs Department), the Sierra Leone Police, and other relevant security agencies.

SLPHA reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and upholding the rule of law in all port operations. The Authority urged the public to disregard the unfounded information and to rely only on official communications from its verified channels.

The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority remains focused on its mandate to enhance the efficiency, integrity, and modernization of Sierra Leone’s port operations in alignment with the Government’s national development objectives.
