Sierra Leone Ports and Harbour Authority Company Secretary Honoured as Emerging African Leader

The Company Secretary of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), Martin Maada George, Esq., has been honoured by the Africa Emerging Leaders Conference and Awards for his exemplary leadership and contributions to governance and maritime law in Africa.

The prestigious award, presented during a ceremony in Accra, Ghana, recognises Mr. George as an emerging African leader who embodies the values of vision, discipline, and dedication to the continent’s development

According to the award citation:  “Martin Maada George is a distinguished legal and maritime governance professional with a decade of experience in law and public service. He has served for over six years as Company Secretary of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), during which time he has spearheaded significant reforms in maritime law, seaport management, and international shipping regulations.”

Mr. George holds an LLM in International Maritime Law with Distinction, an LLB (Hons) from the University of London, and a BA from Fourah Bay College (FBC). He was called to the Sierra Leone Bar in 2017 and is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Sierra Leone.

He is married to Anna Maada-George and is the proud father of three sons. Although recognised at the high-profile event, Mr. George was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to the recent loss of his uncle and brother, who passed away within two days of each other. Funeral ceremonies are being held today, Friday, and tomorrow, Saturday.
